Mexico celebrates the 4th International Meeting of Video Game Researchers

North of Mexico City, the fourth meeting of video game researchers took place, which is part of the Digital Games Research Association (DIGRA) which in Mexico has been called DIGRA Mx. From June 29 to July 3, the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN) hosted renowned researchers and developers from various parts of the world.
With workshops, conferences and talks on topics such as identity, gender, educational video games, semiotic analysis and many more, attendees delved into an area of knowledge that is becoming increasingly important and prominent in our societies.

In an interview with Mexican Press Agency, Blanca López, president of DIGRA Mx, emphasized the international nature of the event: “In addition to Spain, the United States, Colombia, Argentina, Venezuela and Costa Rica participated.”

This event also represents an opportunity to get closer to video game developers who, as Blanca López pointed out, are often also involved in academia and teaching.

With a full day dedicated to bringing together researchers and video game developers, talks and conferences were held under the name “Game Links” to close this gap.

The celebration of this international congress is only one part of all the work that internationally renowned researchers such as Ruth S. Contreras Espinosa and Blanca E. López Pérez do to position Mexico in the world stage in the areas of gaming culture and video games.
